Founded in 1947, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is a not-for-profit, publicly supported charitable research and education organization dedicated to saving lives by preventing traffic crashes and reducing injuries when crashes occur.

For 70 years, the Foundation has been true to its mission to prevent traffic deaths and injuries by conducting research into their causes and by educating the public about strategies to prevent crashes and reduce injuries when they do occur.

Drawing on both in-house resources and the work of leading experts in North America, our work generates concrete recommendations for preventing crashes, injuries, and deaths on our roads.

Citizens for Reliable and Safe Highways (CRASH)

Home

CRASH stands for Citizens for Reliable and Safe Highways. The commercial trucking industry in the United States is plagued by numerous safety problems. Oversize, overweight and speeding trucks, truck driver fatigue, substandard vehicle maintenance, and insufficient regulatory enforcement are all obstacles to safe trucking operations. Thousands of trucking companies consistently place productivity concerns over issues of safety. But the U.S. Congress, regulatory bodies, and trucking interests have a joint responsibility to truck drivers and to the motoring public to make truck safety a top priority. Safety can be an integral part of trucking operations, and it is the goal of CRASH to see that government works with trucking interests to set safety as their highest priority.
